Goodbye Virginia

Well its been a great 4 years in Virginia for Kory & I.  We bought our first house, celebrated our 1st-4th  anniversaries, grew spiritually, met some great friends, &, of course, had our first wonderful child.  Much like how Kory & I always tell everyone that we’re “from” Tennessee when they ask, no matter where we go or what she does, Kaitlin will always be “from” Virginia.

Kaitlin was a little sentimental about leaving her first house & first room so we took some last pictures for her.

Next stop … well … a brief stop in Tennessee again … then Northwest Arkansas, here we come!

Cabin Fever

After all the snow and being stuck inside for multiple weekends we finally have been able to get out and about. We made a big trip to Cracker Barrel with Kaitlin and it was so nice to not be in our house. They did give Kaitlin crayons and her own coloring page. We may need a couple more months to get that fine motor skill for coloring.

We still have snow packs on our street and our lawn is completely covered in snow. This is what is all  over the area!

Huge Snow mounds…. they are not going to melt any time soon.It is so wild to have so much snow. We are ready for spring!

This is a snapshot of what Kaitlin and I do all day. We walk and walk and walk. I know that she walks 5 miles a day. We also like to walk with multiple books. She is getting very speedy. It must be all the inspiration from the Olympics!

Snowmaggedon

For the 2nd time in about 6 weeks, we got over 20” of snow last weekend.  We were snowed-in all weekend … for the 2nd straight weekend (8” of snow the previous Saturday).  At this point, even Kaitlin was going a little crazy!

IMG_3393

She was happy to learn though that there was a perk of it snowing … we could make SNOWCREAM!!!!

IMG_3392  IMG_3397

Kaitlin as very interested in the snow and decided she was rather play with it than eat it – which is a first.  As an extra added bonus, this Sunday the city of Waynesboro did such a great job plowing the roads that they nearly covered our entire mailbox … then decided to decapitate it!

IMG_3399 IMG_3411

Nah, we didn’t need it anyway.  Norm the weather guy is only calling for another 6-12” on Tuesday / Wednesday this week.  Kaitlin is ready!

Snow Bunny

Today there was a rumor that we would getting 30 to 40 inches of snow this weekend!!! This was Kaitlin’s reaction!!!

IMG_3325

We made a quick trip to Walmart for a few basics and it looked like Black Friday with long lines of  frantic shoppers. I love to see what everyone has in their cart. Kaitlin just watched all the shoppers and was content to see all the action. She is ready for the next blizzard. The forecast is only calling for 12 to 18 inches. Here is our little snow bunny!!

Groundhog Day

Happy Groundhog Day!!! Our days in VA are turning into the movie Groundhog Day. We had another snow storm last weekend with 9-12" of accumulation in the valley. Nothing a Tennessee girl would be able to handle but after 28 inches of snow last month, it seemed insignificant. I mean, in Knoxville the blizzard of 93 shut down our town for a week and that was 12 inches of snow. So after a white weekend, it started snowing AGAIN today and it is still coming down!! We have another 6" expected tonight and a " SIGNIFICANT" storm coming in on Friday. Now Mr Weatherman (Norm) needs to define "significant."

Here is a cutie who did not see her shadow today. We value her opinion more than that furry groundhog anyway so we expect an early spring - Kory said he is a yankee afterall. Expect more snow pictures soon!!!

G- Daddy’s Birthday

My parents were able to come up a few weeks ago to visit and to celebrate my Dad’s birthday. We had such a fun time and Kaitlin had a blast! Kory and I were able to go on a date and it was such a blessing to have them here for a few days. We went to one of Dad’s favorite places Mill Street Grill to celebrate.

Kaitlin looked all around the entire time!! She was having so much fun starring at all the other people.

She was also very excited for Dad’s birthday treat. Kaitlin grabbed for it and got some on her fingers. The girl is quick with her hands. We told her not too much longer until she got her own birthday treat.
